From Outlook to your planner

Import your Outlook timetable

Some schools publish each teacher's timetable straight into Outlook. If yours does, you are closer than you think: Outlook can save a calendar as an .ics file, and that is the format Made to Teach imports best.

  1. Step 1

Find your timetable calendar in Outlook

Open the calendar area of Outlook and work out which calendar actually holds your classes. If your school publishes timetables into Outlook, it is often a separate calendar sitting alongside your personal one — which makes for a much cleaner export.

  2. Step 2

Export it as an .ics file

In Outlook's calendar settings, look for an option to save, export, or publish a calendar — the result you want is an .ics file. Choose just the timetable calendar, and if Outlook asks for a date range, cover at least one full timetable cycle.

  3. Step 3

    Leave personal events out

Export the timetable calendar on its own if you can. Your planner does not need your personal appointments — and you can remove any stray events from the draft during review anyway.

  4. Step 4

Upload it to Made to Teach

In the app, open Classes → Import timetable. Upload the file directly on your device, or choose Import using our website, generate a one-time code, and upload from any browser at import.madetoteach.com.au.

  5. Step 5

Review the draft in the app

Made to Teach turns your upload into a draft timetable. Check every class name, room, day, and time, fix anything that looks wrong, then choose Add timetable to schedule.

nothing lands without you

Every import becomes a draft first. You check the classes, days, and times in the app, fix anything that looks off, and nothing is added to your schedule until you confirm it.
